Complaints in babies and children

You can also come to me with your baby. Common complaints such as intestinal colic, reflux, a preferred position or restlessness can affect the well-being of your child. With gentle, manual techniques I look for the cause and help your baby's body relax for a calm and happy start.

Visiting an osteopath with your baby

Birth is an intensive process that can put a lot of tension on a baby's body, for example on the skull, spine and pelvis. Sometimes the body repairs this on its own, but not always. Complaints can also arise in young children due to falls, illness, tension or incorrect posture. The osteopath examines and treats the mobility of the body using gentle and safe techniques. The aim is to reduce tension so that the body can develop optimally.

I understand that many questions arise in your mind during the visit with your baby. That is why I try to outline as clearly as possible what to expect.

When you come for a consultation with your baby for the first time, we will start with a conversation about the course of the pregnancy and delivery. The baby's complaints described above also emerge.

After the conversation, a physical examination will follow. The baby's feet, pelvis, intestines, stomach, neck and back and skull are examined.

After the examination, the topics examined are discussed with the parents and it is determined whether the osteopath can help. Everything will be explained as clearly as possible during the treatment and everything will of course be done in consultation as best as possible. The parents themselves choose whether they want to start the treatment.

The treatment process

Intake

Every treatment process starts with an extensive intake interview. We discuss your current complaints and medical history to get the clearest possible picture of your situation. This conversation is essential in order to optimally tailor the treatment to you.

Diagnosis

After the intake, a careful physical examination follows. Because the cause of a complaint is often located in a different place in the body than where you feel the pain, I examine your entire body. I assess all systems in the body: craniosacral system (skull, jaw and nervous system), the visceral/organ system (mobility of the organs) and the musculoskeletal system (joints throughout the body).

Treatment

Each treatment is personal and focused on the underlying cause of your complaints. By tackling the problem at the source, we ensure a sustainable recovery. Depending on what your body needs, I combine osteopathy with physiotherapy techniques and dry needling. In addition, you will be given targeted exercises to support recovery and ensure that the complaints stay away.

Rates

You do not need a referral from a specialist. Most health insurers reimburse osteopathy partially or fully from the policy. In principle, treatments do not depend on your deductible. I advise you to check with your health insurer whether osteopathy is reimbursed. Zorgwijzer has created a handy overview of the reimbursements per health insurer.
